Your guide to activities and fun things to do with your preschoolers, toddlers and kids in Cleveland, OH

A great book is sometimes the one that you create yourself!

I have a project for you ... come along with me and let's create an amazing piece of art!

Items needed:

• camera
• cardstock
• metal ring (3")
• hole punch
• access to laminating machine (optional)
• markers/crayons ...other decorating items

Make time to sit with your children and go through the alphabet.  Look around your home, your outdoor space ... think of the places that you visit regularly.

Let your little ones identify items that begin with each letter of the alphabet, and photograph them!  If your children are old enough, add an extra element of education and let THEM take some of the photos!

Once you have printed or developed your photos, use your creativity to mount them on cardstock ... decorate each page ... label each page with the appropriate word/item/place that the begins with each letter.

Laminate, if desired.  Hole punch in the top left corner and place the metal ring through all pages.

How easy is that?  You have a personalized ABC Book that your children can call their own!

Your children will get so much joy out of looking through their handmade book ... recalling places and items that are familiar to them. 

Are you stuck for ideas on certain letters of the alphabet? 

• Use the names of dear friends or relatives (i.e. Aunt Kathy, Grandma, etc.)
• Be specific about names of flowers, or obscure colors - expand their vocabulary!
• Favorite foods (peanut butter, fish sticks, peaches)
• Specific names of animals
