Across the oceans ...

December 04, 2008

Over this past summer, our family participated in a very fun (and so easy to do) penpal type program.

Post Crossing is a fantastic (and very very organized) project that allows anyone to exchange postcards (real postcards that you can hold in your hand!) from random places in the world.

You simply create an account at their website, then request an address and a Postcard ID.  After mailing a postcard to that address (you can mail up to 5 at one time) you will then (patience is a good thing here) receive postcards from OTHERS!

The system works great in that you register your postcards that are received and the website will manage and track the postcrossings!

We have yet to make this project come full circle, as I want to display them on a bulletin board.  I also want to then follow it up by checking books out from our library that correlate with the postcard originating country.

Check it out!  We all love mail, and how much fun to receive a postcard from ... Denmark, or Japan ... or sometimes just as fun?  A neighboring state!
